Console or PC?

If it's a console game, then almost certainly yes! Unless it was a cartridge. If it was a cartridge, then your save is on the cartridge.

If it was PC, you may be able to import the saves, or overwrite the new copy's saves with the old one's... Or possibly even just use your old install... But sometimes a game's security prevents any of this. You can't be entirely sure on a computer.

yep easy the saved data will be for that type of game only regardless of it being rented or bought, all the same games have all the same programming meaning i could save my game off a friends disc then use my disc to continue playing the saved game,

in short, yes you will be able to load it
