As a Reds fan, I love Ryan Freel and the way he gets after it, but he will never be the player that Pete Rose was or anywhere near it. Pete Rose was much more skilled with the bat and glove when he played. Freel will never be questioned whether or not he deserves to be the Hall of Fame as Pete would be if it weren't for his gambling Jones.

The next Pete Rose? Well, perhaps he is adored by Reds fans, but the man is 31 years old with 408 career base hits, a .274 batting average and no All Star Game appearances. These three simple facts (among many others) make it quite clear that, as a player, he is not now nor will he ever be like Pete Rose.

He will be no Pete Rose in terms of hits, but you got to give the guy credit for getting after it and hustling his butt off every day. But Freel is pretty crazy too, multiple personalities and stuff. Something about a little guy that lives in his head and talks to him. I forget his name....but you can head over to deadspin.com and search Ryan Freel and will find some crazy stuff about him.

I don't think Freel has as much talent as Pete Rose and I think Pete Rose had a little bit more hustle than Freel but, they both play the game the way it should be played. over all I think Rose is much better than freel.

I don't know if Pete Rose is an alcoholic. Until I find out one way or the other, I can't say whether or not Freel is the next Rose.

FYI, your Reds will struggle to stay out of the cellar of the worst division in baseball this season.

Way too soon to tell. Let's hope he won't exactly become the next Pete Rose. I hope he doesn't end up betting on baseball.

Oh, please. Freel's a decent player, but hasn't even begun to merit any comparisons to Rose whatsoever.
