They go cheap on Lovie Smith, won't sign Briggs to a long term contract, trade their best runner (TJ) to the Jets.

And now they pick up the very expensive contract of Adam Archuleta who didn't even play on the D in Washington for the last half of the season.

I think Jerry Angelo may have a crack problem.

No smartass, teams don't always want the best players on the field.

Football is a business first and foremost. Chicagoans are already loyal to the Bears.

You decrease payroll, and keep ticket sales the same or slightly better. This makes a team profitable.

If you don't know sports, stick to the beauty and makeup sections.

I'm wondering the same thing about the Bears myself, what in world is Angelo up too??

The TJ trade sort of surprised me, I know he had asked for a trade but didn't think they would do it. I'm not totally sold on Benson being the every down back, he is somewhat injury prone and seems to be on the outs with a lot of the veteran players which isn't a good thing...maybe he will prove me wrong. Adrian Peterson is an adequate backup but do think the Bears need to draft a RB this year if nothing more than for depth. Not much left in the free agent market in RB's either, they all got snatched up rather early.

As for Briggs, I would like to see him stay but doubt they will give him the money he wants and look for the Bears to trade him in a trade and sign deal to move way up in the draft or for future picks.

Glad to see Lovie got his contract resolved, I was worried he was going to walk away, after Wanny and Jauron he is a breath of fresh air!

Didn't know about the Archuleta deal.....I have too look into that.

Question back to you...do you think Grossman is still the QB of the future or do we need to look elsewhere? My opinion is they are going to stay with him until he either proves them right or becomes mediocre and force them to bench/let him go...he's here for awhile.

Well as long as Lovie signed, I dont really give a ****. As for Briggs, the situatioin is so far out of the way now, that he's gone at the end of the season (he's not gonna get traded or cut cause the Bears are holding all the cards). As for the Thomas Jones deal, he wanted out and we all know eventually Cedric Benson is gonna be begging for more handoffs, so they have to go with the younger guy who still has a long big contract (even if he does suck). As for Archuleta, he may have not done well for Washington, but he was one of the top safeties in the league when he was with the Rams, and if he can return to prime form, the Bears will have an even tougher defense.

First of all Lovie Smith didn't get a cheap contract and second of all they restructured Adam Archuleta's contract to 3 years 8 Millions bucks and if Jerry Angelo had a crack problem he wouldn't have drafted Hester and Mark Anderson and plus Mike Brown is always getting hurt and Archuleta can do great plus don't forget that Lovie Smith was his defensive coordinator in St. Louis so Lovie should know how to coach Archuleta and I think the Bears got the best of this deal. P.S. GO BEARS!!!

Not a Bears fan but at least Lovie is getting a better contract. They're raising the price of tickets to a game so looks like the loyal fans are the ones paying his salary. Didn't they offer Briggs 33 mil for 6 or 7 years? He and every other pro athlete out there should just shut the hell up and realize that they're getting paid to play a GAME! All the money that I make, my wife makes, our kids will make, etc. will not come close to whatever it is he's making right now. I say cut him and then he can make nothing. I know he needs to take care of himself and his family, but what he doesn't need is 10 cars, three houses, all the perks for his "boyz." I think a lot of it has to do with his agent. If i'm not mistaken, he has the same agent as T.O. and if that's the case then we all know how this will end up.

Revamping the D.
Remember; in the Super Bowl loss to the Colts, it was the damage that Addai and Rhodes did to the linebackers, especially Briggs that was a big factor in Colts win.
As long as they don't mess with the O, they'll be alright.
Just add a couple of more fast receivers.
Muhsin Muhammand is 12 years old.
Did the Bears keep him?
Let him teach the youngsters.

archuleta because he should thrive in the bears simple defensive system while also providing insurance for briggs, tank, or anyone else who gets injured or arrested/shot. trading jones mystifies me with the emergence of the 2 headed running attack unless the bears want a bruising running game (makes sense with grossman calling the shots), and or want to draft a RB

I have wondered the same thing. They seem determined to destroy an excellent team, ala the Florida Marlins in baseball.

Another (mis)management move you didn't mention --- they are stubbornly refusing to address their QB situation.

sorry to say this, but once again, the bears are going into hibernation. i'm not trying to say that i hate the bears, its just that history repeats itself and the bears have sucked for a long time.
