Have an ultrasound. I'm having a girl this time (and a girl last time) and each pregnancy has been different. I thought I was having a boy since this baby is soooooo low but nope, a girl it is.

However, if you're looking for wivestales, check this site out:

An Ultrasound at at least 18 weeks is about 90% accurate, depending on the quality of the machine and the skill of the technician (you can see as early as 16 weeks in come cases but this less accurate, an 18-22 week ultrasound is the most accurate)

A CVS or amnio test can tell with 100% accuracy.

Or you can wait until the baby is born.

Unfortunately other physical signs that people look for are just old wives tales, like getting acne, or carrying high, or carrying low, or carrying all out the front, or craving certain foods, or getting strange tastes in your mouth, or conceiving on special days in the month, or the speed of the fetus's heartbeat, or a whole bunch of other things people will try and sell you as "fact"..... the physical changes in a mother have no connection to the sex of the baby she is carrying. I mean, what happens if a women is carrying twins of both sexes??

I have 5 boys and 1 girl and all of my pregnancies were different.

Do you want the old wives's tales or do you want the scientific info?
Old wives say if you suspend your wedding ring from a string and have someone hold it over your belly, it will turn in circles if the baby is a boy and move back and forth in a straight line , like a pendulum, if it's a girl. Or is it the other way around?
The scientific method is have an ultrasound done and have it read. Good technicians can often tell, but they aren't infallible. The only 100% reliable way to tell the sex of the infant is to wait until s/he is born - and even then there have been mistakes made!

None of the old wives tales have ever proved to be true for me or anyone that I know. I do however have my own theory and that is that the father always knows what the baby will be. My husband knew both times that I was having a girl. All of my friends and family have had the same experience. It's just a theory...lol. But I think you're going to have to wait for an ultrasound to know for sure. Good luck and I hope you have a happy, healthy baby!

You can't tell with 100% certainty unless you either have a chromosome test (like amnio) or wait until the bub is born.

Ultrasounds are pretty accurate but there is some margin for error.

Anything else you hear is an old wives tale.

Sometimes they can tell from an ultrasound but the best way is with a sample of amniotic fluid. The last does have its risks. they can also check DNA with the fluid to check for defects. It is recommended for women over 35 having children. I can vouch for the fact my fourth child is perfect because I saw her DNA. I tell her this all the time too.

i think old lady got it backwards lol, if it goes in a circle its a girl, and a line is a boy also if ur not married i heard you could use a needle, i did this on my sister in law and it told the truth, and i did it on me and it says im havin a girl but i havent got the altrasound yet so i dont no if it worked but ive had a feeling im havin a girl since the day i found out i was pregnant.
