A lot more people that just George Soros said there would be a recession. Off the top of my head, others:

Nouriel Roubini
Brad DeLong
Barry Ritholtz (sp?)
Paul Krugman

There are many more...

And we won't know if they were right until at least the end of the year, if not longer. The business cycle dating committee (they say when recessions happen), part of the NBER, decide when recessions happen after the fact.

You usually need hindsight to see when they really started. Sometimes its hard to know you had one until you're out of it (especially with how policy has progressed). Though some of the above names have made predictions the recession will be hard and fast and we will definitely know it is happening.

Not yet, housing starts are up again the unemployment rate is low. inflation is benign except for that darn old food and energy. Corporate profits are good. this is a poor start for a recession.

I dunno, ask me in 9 months, since there hasn't been any recession yet this year. But let's be sure to keep a record and publicize these prophets one way or the other, yeah?
