go to walmart if you have one close by, in the garden center they sell ''owls'' that are plastic i just hung one over my pond and it will scare the birds away it also specifically says on the directions to place near veg gardens.. it was only 8 dollars here in fla. but it surely works

The birds are most likely seeking water. Provide them with a source of water and they will leave your tomatoes alone. Moth balls, pie plates, and marigolds will do nothing.

All the suggestions so far are great! I would also get a product called Kaolin Clay. You dissolve about 1 cup into a gallon of water and spray your plants. Nothing will eat them, cuz the Kaolin has a very bitter taste.

You've got bugs landing on your tomatoes or it's very dry, If it's dry get a bird bath

We attach pie plates with string to your tomato stake, they flap in the wind and scare the birds.

i'm no longer conversing from own journey, yet i have seen someone attempt this for a blueberry bush and do not see why it received't artwork for tomatoes besides, they hung a mylar balloon from the plant..... the helium lasts very lengthy in mylar and the shinny matalic plastic scarces them away....
