I intend to biuld double hung colonial timber windows, and wish to find a supplyer (in W A would be good) for the insert between the glass for the double glazing.

You are looking for the spacer between the panes of sealed insulated glass? How are you going to control the environment inside? Condensation inside the window is not a good thing.
If it were me, I'd call some local glass companies for quotes on the sealed glass panels, preferably with Argon inside, and then make my own frames.

Double glazed windows have an inert gas sealed between the two panes of glass. This prevents condensation during cold weather. This is not something you would probably be able to do on your own.

Just using two panes of glass with a spacer will not give you the insulation properties you would expect and condensation would always be a problem. I would strongly recommend buying them premade.

not so easy as that you have to have the glass vacuumed, as you will get condensation in between the sealed unit, the alli, plastic or wood is easaly bought so is the rubber seal needed, do not use silicone as this eats the vaccum seal,

I dont think you would save a lot of money. Go for a built unit and save on the biggest cost which is fitting it
