Well, since we can't read minds, you are either going to have to go high-tech, with radio bugs planted on them and monitored 24/7, or go ninja - disguise yourself and sneak around behind them, listening in. You can do both at once, plant the bugs and then sneak around. You could hire a detective.
Why you so concerned with what others are saying about you anyways? If you life a righteous life and are pure of heart, what others think doesn't matter. Anyone who knows you will know you're a good dude, and the haters will fade away. If you can't trust your friends to be cool about you, you need some new friends.

Their lips are moving but your ears can't hear! My friend you must be young. You will come to understand the true fact that as you go through life you will do well to have enough friends you can count on one hand. But there will be many acquaintances. There is a difference you will understand later. For now enjoy what you have and don't worry so much about other people and what they might say or think. Have some fun and enjoy life!

That might be difficult, but I can now tell when certain scums illegally hack into my computer or put things like snoop-boxes in peoples' computers and pretend that you do not know what you are talking about when you learn and now know how to look up old firewall history and other records and find their IP addresses and computer names. Furthermore, I also know how to trace and track various e-mails, and other devious attempts to invade my privacy, and even know when someone has the nerve to not only hack into my computer, but also use my computer to send out viruses and other garbage to other peoples' computers to try and make it look like me!! That's pretty low, and it's something that continues to occur in my situation and I am not impressed at all!

You won't.
Unless you hear them personally, the best you will get is secondhand information and guesses. And if you confront them about this 'hearsay', they will deny it anyway.
So why does it even matter? You cannot control what another person says about you.
But you CAN control how you react to it.
So don't.

When your enemies start attacking you with secrets you've only told your closest friends. It happened to me. In seventh grade I dropped ALL of my friends and found new ones. I have no regrets.

you'll be able to sense it. Someone will tell you, or you should just confront them about it, cause even if they AREN'T, then you should tell them why you would believe that. Friendships will have cracks, and if they aren't mended, the'll grow too big.
