I want to learn how to play. I have been wanting to do this for some time now. I would like a guitar that is reasonably priced (below $300), has a good sound, and won't become a mess after a year of use. Can anyone recommend a good beginner's guitar. Basically looking for a low maintenance guitar that will still have a very good sound. Would like experienced guitar players to answer preferably. Thank You.

go to musiciansfriend.com........they have many many guitars to choose from that would suit your interest. and also their sister company is guitar center, so if you can see something on mf.com that you like you can usually find the same thing to play at guitar center so you can get a good idea of how it plays. But to save a lot of money on taxes, buy it from the website instead. Also, the gentleman that mentioned Esteban, on QVC..........i thought that he was a total gimmick, but he really does make a nice guitar and enjoys selling and making them for the public to enjoy. So that is an option. He sells with it a guitar learn to play dvd and a bunch of other stuff. so that is a good option as well.

As far as moderately priced guitars that I like, I can recommend, epiphone, Ibanez, and Takamine as some great guitars to start with and very nicely priced and made well. I have been playing for many years, and I love my epiphone les paul. Enjoy your search for a nice guitar......they are a lot of fun to play.

My favorite manufacturer for it's Epiphone. Martin, Tanglewood and Yamaha also are well. All of those you'll be able to get a elementary acoustic for across the hundred pound mark. If you are critical approximately gambling, I'd strongly propose you take into account an electro acoustic guitar, that's an acoustic which you'll be able to spice up through plugging into an amp to increase sound results, fine and quantity. Again, I decide on Epiphone. It will price greater than 100 despite the fact that it's valued at it as an funding.

Honestly there is this QVC special with a guitar virtuoso by the name of Esteban. He's on there selling his guitar and DVDs for beginners. The DVDs teach you basic chords to play dozens of songs.
