No, it can't hurt you, it can help you from getting a sexually transmitted disease! If you are on your period during sex, you likely cannot get pregnant if using a condom...but, if you use a condom during sex while NOT on your period and it breaks, you could end up pregnant. It's good that you are wanting to practice safe sex though. Keep it up! If and when you do have sex, always have him wear a condom! You can have a boyfriend for a year or so, but if you get herpes from him, it's with you for the rest of your life!!! Stay smart, girl. :)

Okay, I think a few of the people that answered above me are a little young and don't really know what they are talking about! First of all...You can get pregnant when you are having your period! The chances are slim but it is possible! Second of all....Protected sex is not going to cause you harm when you are on your period and if you are having sex you need to use some type of protection all the time! Not only do you use protection to prevent pregnancy but the use of condoms cuts down your chances of getting and STD! Third... You CAN still get pregnant even if you use protection! Condoms, break and pills and shots can fail! I was on the shot and got it religiously ever 3 months and still ended up pregnant! My mother was on the pill when she got pregnant with me! My best friend ended up pregnant after a condom broke because most times you don't know it broke until you are done! And lastly...No offense but if you are this naive about sex and actually agree with some of the girls above then you probably aren't mature enough to be having sex anyway and shouldn't do it until you are truly educated and ready to take care of whatever consequences may happen...I mean...If you have sex and then somehow end up pregnant...are you really ready mentally and financially to care for a baby? Think about darling!

First, yes, you can get pregnant at any time in your cycle. Less likely but still very possible on your period. "Protected" or not.. if "protected" sex truly meant no pregnancy, then I think there are a lot of moms out there who want an explanation!

It's not advised that you have sex while on your period, your cervix actually opens up a little bit and if you have sex during that time, it could "invite" infection.

You also could be much much more sensitive and it may hurt or be sore.. but it's up to you.

Because you are asking this question I have a feeling that you are a young woman who is still innocent. Before you go and make a foolish decision that can lead to an unwanted pregnancy I would ask that you stop and go talk to a counselor over at Planned Parenthood or to an adult you are comfortable with. There is really no 100% guarantee about not getting pregnant which is the big reason you should not take any chances with bringing an innocent child into this world.

good luck!

well... protected sex or non protected sex can be messy and disgusting during a period... you can still get pregnant even if you use condoms no matter if you are or arent on your period its a 50-50 chance you have to be willing to take. You are more prone to get an infection if you have sex though on your period... so if you are wanting to have sex wait the 5-7 days it will be so much cleaner, and yes, you can still get pregnant while on your period. there is never really a safe time to have sex.. like i said before. its a chance you have to be willing to take...

I am a little confused by your question. By protected sex do you mean a condom or birth control? Birth control/condoms reduce the risk of getting pregnant (and condoms also reduce the risk of disease such as HIV and herpes), but there is still a slight chance of getting pregnant. It has nothing to do with you having your period, how were you thinking that protected sex could harm you?

I'm confused, if your having protected sex why are you worried? Whether your on your period or not you should use protection. Some girls have been known to get pregnant while on their period. Besides you should always use protection to avoid contact with STD's and aids

If you're having intercourse well on you for utilizing defense.... Yes you'll be able to have proteced intercourse earlier than and in the course of your interval. My idea might be speak to a dr or a sexual wellbeing sanatorium, in a few international locations they're unfastened and ladies fairly most commonly are within the sexual wellbeing clinics to present recommendation and support and you'll be able to acquire understanding. Google birth control and intercourse understanding and the womens menstral cycle I am certain you'll get a few understanding. well success

sex will not hurt you when you're on you period, you can still get pregnant but the chances are very slim because everyone is different. you can have all the protected sex you want on your period as a matter of fact sex on you period can be more stimulating since your hormone are going crazy at that time, just try to make sure have a towel or are in tHE shower becasue it can be messy, it's not embarrassing unless you're both imature about it

OH PS YOU'RE NOT MORE FERTILE ON YOUR PERIOD YOU ARE WAY LESS FERTIL BECAUSE THAT'S WHEN YOU'RE BODY RELEASES TEH UNUSED EGG DUH! YOU'RE MORE FERTILE WHEN YOU WHICH IS FOR MOST WOMEN THE 14TH DAY OF YOU CYCLE WHICH WOULD BE ABOUT 7-11 DAYS AFTER YOU PERIOD ENDS!

Minimum requirements for pregnancy: 1 ovum, 1 sperm, 1 uterus. Using protection during your period significantly reduces the chances, but it's no guarantee.
