I just turned 18 and my parents have been getting Social Secruity for me because my dad is disabled. When it came in it had my name on it and no one else. It usually says "Pay to the order of Diane McKinney for Chris McKinney" but this time it stated "Pay to the order of Chris McKinney" and that was it. It is for the month of Feb. and I turned 18 March 19, 2007. The check came in today March 20 with only my name on it. Any help?

i got ss for my kids for the same reason, the last check is in your name only and is yours. however, you'll have to deal with your parents about that. perhaps you should think about the fact that they have been caring for you for 18 years on a limited income. i'm sure your check probably really didn't cover caring for you for a month. maybe you should use the money to get a job and help care for your dad.

If I were your parents, I'd give you the check and tell you to pay rent or get out. You could use that check to rent an apartment, buy groceries, pay utilities, etc. (sarcasm)

In a sense, but you need to remeber that it goes for helping to raise you, which means that your parent's can use it for groceries, rent, your schooling, etc. You don't just get to go on a shopping spree.

they should hand it over to you, it was in your name, other wise they are forging it, ask people at the bank, anyway--happy birthday! also go to the S.S. building and ask them, they should present it to you for your big 18.
