I need help on the spelling of my baby girls name? With the help of you all my husband and I have decided on Lillian Marie as our baby's name, but we can't decide how to spell Lillian. I love unique names, so I would like to give it a twist, but I don't want to butcher it. For short we are going to spell it Lily. Please give me your advice. Here are some possibilities...

Lilian
Lilyan
Lillian

The one I've seen most often is Lillian and I like it, BUT...

I like that Lilyan gives it the slight twist you want, but without making it impossible to figure out or prounounce.

My vote: LILYAN.

I know a baby girl named Lilyanne Hope. Her nickname is Lily as well. I think that is pretty.

Lillian is my all time favorite spelling though...

Lillian, Lili, Lilia, Lilianah, Liliana, Lilianah, Liliane, Lilliana, Lillianah, Lilliane, Lillianna, Lilliannah, Lillianne, Lilias, Lilibet, Lilibeth, Lilion, Lilleigh, Lillet, Lillis, Lilyan, Lilybeth, Lyli, Lylia, Lyliah, Lylian, Lyliana, Lylianah, Lyliane, Lyliann, Lylianna, Lyiannah, Lylianne, Lylias, Lylibet, Lylibeta, Lylibeth, Lylion, Lylyon

This is from an australian baby name website. It is derivations of Lillian. They spell a lot of their names with the one L in the middle...Lilian. I knd of like Lilyane. I think that is very cute and I love when Ana is spelled with one A. Never thought of Ane for the Ann sound...

Also the o is unique too which I like...Lillion or Lilyon.

Good Luck. SD

Of your possibilities, I like Lilian or Lilyan. Lilyan is more unique.

I think Lyllian looks pretty as well, which I think needs two L's to stop it emphasis on the Y (LY-lian).

I also love Lilianne but this elongates the AN (Lily-aanne) to more than I think you want it (Lily-n), however if you dont mind it, Lilliann also looks nice (and clips the N a little- Lily-an)

Dont worry too much about whether the spelling of the short name matches up- my little cousin Laurence gets called Lol by all, and that's how he writes his name.

Good Luck!

I would leave it as Lillian Marie. It is unique as is. Lily, to me is a separate name. Why not Lily Marie. That is pretty.

Lillian of course. No one uses this beautiful name, so why not keep it spelled the good old fashioned way?
