You'll need to 'oil' your 'muffin cups' WELL because otherwise the 'crayon wax' will stick to them FOREVER ... then just 'break the crayons up' to about 1/2-1 inch long and put them into the 'cup' but sort of 'overfill it' because there's air between that will 'go away' as the crayons melt. Put the muffin tin into a 'preheated' oven at about 250 degrees, and check the 'crayons' every five minutes ... take them out when they've 'melted some' but not 'totally' and let them 'cool and harden THOROUGHLY in the cups before you 'turn them out. WHAT FUN! I remember doing that when I was a kid, and then teaching my kids to do it when they were little, so I'm GLAD to be 'teaching you' how to do it, too.

when we made them, we didn't really have a recipe. We simply cut up pieces of crayons and put them in a muffin cup and heated up the oven. Once they were melted we just set them out to harden.

I heard that it's easy to clean up if you put the pieces of crayon in a little paper dixie cup, then put the cup in the muffin tin. When the crayon is cool, peel the dixie cup off. (they are good for popsicles, too.)

I saw some crayons at a craft fair that were melted first, then poured into candy molds.
