those examples would be fairy tales.
The term Greek mythos means "story, legend" (hence English myth).
A tall tale is a story that claims to explain the reason for some natural phenomenon.
A fairy tale is a story featuring folkloric characters such as fairies, goblins, elves, trolls, giants, and talking animals, and usually enchantments. In cultures where demons and witches are perceived as real, fairy tales may merge into legendary narratives, where the context is perceived by teller and hearers as having historical actuality. However, unlike legends and epics they usually do not contain more than superficial references to religion and actual places, persons, and events; they take place once upon a time rather than in actual times.

Actually it's neither. Technically those are fairy tales. The difference is small but it's there:
A tall tale is something that becomes exaggerated by a HUGE amount in the retelling. A myth is a (usually) supernatural explanation to something that isn't easily understood.
Snow White etc aren't based in fact or are supposed to be an analogy to anything; they're just pretty stories that usually have some moral about how if you do the right thing you'll be rewarded in the end.

Zimmi

They're folktales, specifically "fairy tales" if, like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White, there are fairies or supernatural helpers involved.
Tall tales (like, say, Paul Bunyan) generally have humans with extraordinary size or strength or something like that, but they usually don't have supernatural beings.
Myths are usually more about deities, not so much individuals. Like, in Cinderella, she has a fairy helper (godmother/mother based on version) but it's mainly about her. Myths are for explaining larger truths, like say, how mountains were formed, or why the moon gets smaller and larger throughout the month.

it is a fable or tale.
a myth is something of reality that has no fact that has been spoken about thru the ages.
fables and fairytales are stories made up to children and the stories ended up as pros or in words of the profits and story book writers.
