Unfortunately,its true.
I was induced with my first and 30 minutes later the pain just hit me and it was very painful *I was begging for the epidural, they gave me medicine to put me to sleep cause i was in so much pain..i woke up 2 hours later still in excruciating pain.
If u have to be induced tell them right when u go in that u want the epidural as soon as its possible *this way they can get everything set so they can just give it to you quickly after the pain really kicks in ,this is if u want the epidural*
If u have already dialated a little and your just not progressing ask the doctor if they can use prostaglandin medications to help ripen your cervix to get your labor started naturally. I used this with my last labor *it was a string they wrapped around my cervix* and it made it very soft and i started progressing in contractions and dialating by myself with no induction needed,it was not that bad at all. Either way just think,it will be over as soon as u know it...With the epidural u wont feel a thing and they have lots of options for you regarding inducing you and pain killers..good luck!!

Well I'll be honest with you my second and fourth were induced...with my second (induced with Pitocin) the contractions came HARD and FAST but it was over with so quickly (about 5 hours) that I was able to get up and walk around 20 minutes after he was born. My first labor was 29 hours so after a 5 hour I felt great compared to that...I didn't feel like I had ran 5 marathons.
If you are induced they understand that the pain will probably be greater and you will still have the option of pain meds, take advantage of it if that's what you want. I did the first 3 w/o though and the next 2 with an epidural...can't say enough good things about epi's...I plan one this time too.

I had to have the Pit Drip (Pitocin). I don't know that it is any more painful, this was my first and only baby so far. The problem is that you are fine and next thing you know you are in hard labor.
We were told I would be there all night so I sent my husband home to take a nap and tape my favorite show at the time ( Joan of Arcadia). By the time he got home and got my tape going I was in hard labor. We live in a small town so it was literally like 15 minutes. I was begging my mom to call him and bawling because I wanted him there after I had just sent him home. I really wanted him to have a nap. =) Don't get yourself all worked up though. I had the epidural, best thing I ever did. I am a wuss so it made it where I could enjoy the birth of my daughter.

DON"T WORRY I,ve been thru normal all natural (no drugs) twice, induced once, and one c section with my wife. there isn't much to worry about with inducing. there are a few slight risks involve, but discuss them in detail with your dr. if your worried talk to him until you understand and feel comfortable or don't do it.
A c section is by FAR FAR the worst way. delivery is the easiest, but recovery is hell on both parents!!
i was due may 31 and wasn't born until july 14! no complications other than my mom trying to pass 10 + lbs.
this was the early 70's and thinking was a lot different then.
MAIN THING IS TO STAY CALM AND ENJOY THIS BLESSING!!!!
DON'T FEEL YOU HAVE TO TAKE DRUGS OR AN EPP EITHER. MY WIFE AIN'T TOUGH OR A SADIST AND SHE DID JUST FINE

pitocin does make the contractions more intense i know from experience but i did have a natural childbirth with no meds so it is tolerable but it also depends on how you handle pain i personally hate hate hate needles but i was still able to do it it is a different kind of pain it is like period cramps not to sound gross or try to be inappropriate but usually at this point if you have an orgasm it tends to start contractions i know from experience i hope this helps and again sorry if you thought that last part was tmi or inappropriate good luck and congrats!!!

If you were planning on using pain medication, it really isn't going to matter, is it?
Induction causes stronger contractions than natural labor, which translates to more painful contractions, but less overall labor time.

the element that I cherished the main approximately being prompted became that i became waiting to get my epidural formerly contractions certainly began hurting, so i did not sense plenty until his shoulders got here out, upinto that element i for my area in basic terms felt a good form of stress down there, I felt adequate to appreciate while to push even even though it extremely wasnt a painful exertions. i for my area had a outstanding adventure being prompted, and that i understand everyones adventure is distinctive. different than for my completely outstanding Latin male surgeon. each and every thing became great.

They will put cervadil in first......this will thin and ripen the cervix. I have heard that if the cervadil works, then labor starts on its own and is not worse than regular labor.....because it essentially is.
I have also heard that pitocin labor is harsh and the contractions are harder and faster......

And that is why we have a lovely little thing called an epidural....I'm not fond of medicine, but I've done it with and without the epidural. Just take it and enjoy the birth of you new baby. Good luck!
