How long does winter usually last?

I'm wrighting a book for school.it is called "Seasons of The Year"and I forget how long winter is.

I'm not trying to be a smart@$$ here, but winter is one of 4 months of the 12 month year. So give or take a day, it's 3 months long. Oh yeah, its 1 hour shorter this year because of the US congress, but spring is 1 hour longer!
