Yes, It was more like a series of documentaries about sad lonely children clumsily put together.
Maybe it got nominated because it had a class A cast and it was a little different. In my opinion it was not a movie, it was not that entertaining and i think they nominate pictures based on social pressure rather than because it is a great movie and entertaining.
Bring back great films like
The Sound of Music
The Usual Suspects
The Shawshank Redemption
Star Wars
etc

Yeah, I am sorry but that movie was pointless. It never said why Brad Pitt and his wife were over there. Although I did like that fact that every story in the movie did have some kind of connection. Cate Blanchett did deserve an award for it though she was very good in the movie.
