If you have a wired xbox 360 controller, just plug the USB cable into a free USB port and it should work with most Windows XP-based PCs- this should also be true for almost any Vista based PC
If you have a wireless xbox 360 controller, you need to buy the wireless adapter to use it on your PC

my friend did it with windows xp.i don't know how, but he did it.
