In Chicago, The Discovery Center offers a 4 hour class for $39 on "How To Break Into Commercials". Here's the class info:

1220 HOW DOES THIS BUSINESS REALLY WORK?
Have you ever looked at a TV commercial & thought, "I can do that." Appearing in a TV commercial can be very lucrative because every time it's aired, the actor gets a residual. The great thing about this business is that you don't have to be young or glamorous to be in a commercial. With the right knowledge, skills & materials (photos & resume), you can break into the Chicago TV commercial industry.
Don't miss this four-hour lecture and discussion about the acting industry in Chicago with a special focus on the on-camera segment of the business. In this class you'll learn about:
o What Talent Agents and Casting Directors are looking for
o The unspoken rules of the game
o Answers to questions you don't dare ask an agent
o Marketing yourself, including photos and resumes that get you noticed

Look in your local phone book and in your local papers and check and see if a similar class is offered in your areal

I think that would be awesome. They usually have like auditions like actors do.A good idea would probably be is to e-mail someone who's product that your interested in and let them know you would like to star in their commercial.that might help.
