I got my eviction notice on Saturday stating that I had 7 days to pay my late rent or be evicted. I got very ill, lost my job and can not pay BUT don't I legally have 30 days to move my stuff? I have lots of stuff, and am sick and pregnant and need more time to move. I like in KY.

Thanks!!

I do not know Kentucky law but if this was your first notice it is almost certainly just the first step in a lengthier process. The link below provides some sources of free legal advice for tenants in Kentucky. Hope you get to feeling better.

The 30 day notice is only if the landlord terminates the lease and requires you to leave. Typically with non-payment of rent you'll get a 3 day notice and then a 7 day notice. I'm sorry about your financial problems and hope it works out for you. The law however protects the owner of the property and he only has to give you 7 days for non-payment of rent.

It depends on what the lease says.

In most states, there's a 30 day notice requirement.

But, there's nothing saying that he can't give you 7-days notice (or no warning) before he posts the eviction notice. It's just the eviction notice that generall requires the 30 day period.

All laws vary by state, so check your local listings.
