I agree with Firecracker,Bill and Don.
Check for a wire short by unplugging the neutral wire from the switch, on the Sporty's I've worked on( older than yours) there is a plug that connects to the trans case behind the clutch portion of the primary.
If you unplug it and your light is still on, you have a short in the wire to your idiot lights.
If you unplug it and the light goes out, it's the switch.

1 bad switch.
2 neutral switch wire shorted to ground.
