It seems that my problems are maintaining my professional contacts. I believe that my problems in networking are not the initial phase where I initiate conversation and even getting his/her business card. The issue is I don't know what to do after. How do I maintain this professional relationship without being too pushy? Thanks, in advance, for you answers!

Call him a day or two after. Set up an informal lunch or drinks after work a few weeks out. That way, you will each be on one another's calendars, and you don't have to worry about being too pushy. The meeting can be just to discuss work life if you don't want to worry about it coming across as a date.

Just a nice card with a quick note that you enjoyed the visit, meeting him/her, hoping to do business in the future, etc. Do not do an email card, but a bonified thankyou type card (blank inside) that you can send thru snail-mail to the person.

It seems old fashioned, but since everyone is into the electronic age, a little bit of old-fashioned business sense needs to come into play. It's more personal and will be noticed more than something coming over a 14" screen. You might want to enclose one of your business cards, while you are at it... =)
