Advertising. Also advertising to the little kids so they can get a toy and play on a playground.
If we dont eat before we leave home, the fast food aspect takes ahold and the drive thru tugs at you.
The familiarity of the McDonalds logo, it's been around and you know what you are getting when u pull thru.
(However, some things are a little extra) when the employees mess w/your food.

The important thing isn't how we buy into it, but that economic interests have pushed it so as to make it very hard to not buy into. By ruthlessly making it cheap, by incessant advertising, especially aimed at children, etc.

It's easy, convenient, and tastes good in this fast-paced world. That's why we "buy" into it even when we know it is not the healthiest. If you truly mean to buy into it, you would need to buy a franchise.
