I think that kids are dating younger and younger. I have a 10 year old cousin and she's already thinking about boys way to much. When do you think is an appropriate age to start dating?

I think it is ok to be talking about boys around 14 and saying so and so is hot or something similar. Personally, I think dating should come after 18 or in college, as another user has mentioned, so they are mature enough to handle the relationship. I completely agree that kids are dating younger and younger - I was at a friend's house or her 9 year old sister was talking about how one of her crushes kissed her. 9 years old is way too young!

We Indian parents think dating as a means to find your
marriage partner.Group activities where there are 10 persons
can be allowed after the age of 16 years but I do not think
one should allow her daughter to date before she is 21 and
she should come back to the house before 9 pm.

Well, this is how it works where I live:
Grade K-2: Everybody has lots of boyfriends/girlfriends. Doesn't mean anything of course. Just trying to be cool.
Grades 3 and 4- No one cares
Grade 5- People start gossiping about crushes.
Grade 6- People start asking people out, but no kissing or anything like that. Just holding hands at school.
Grade 7 and 8- Lots of people are "going out" with each other. Some kissing.
Highschool- People start dating, more "serious" relasionships. More intamite version of middle school.

It is not strictly like that, but it is pretty much like that. I think middle school is a fine time to start "going out" to movies, group things, but not serious dating. Highschool is better, but still I think it ahouldn't be too serious.

I think it depends on your definition of dating. I remember in the second grade there were "boyfriend and girlfriend" but they never kissed or had sexual intercourse or anythign of the sort. I personally think dating age should be around 14 but I think it is something that should be discussed between parent and child what is allowed until the child turns 18.
