this has been ongoing with another team. I am being offered Ichiro, Josh Barfield and Juan Rivera for Chase Utley and Alex Rios. My 2nd baseman then would become Robinson Cano and the I could then place Ichiro in right field. Barfield would be a solid backup as I have Ibanez and Cuddyer as bench players. any thoughts?

Dont do it! Utley is by far the most dominant 2nd baseman in fantasy baseball and Alex Rios looks bound for stardom. Ichiro is a great player but Barfield is an average fantasy player (and one wonders why S.D. would trade him for a minor leaguer straight up...somebody knows something). Rivera has a broken leg and wont even be a factor until May at best and rumors are it was a serious break and he may not be at full strength the entire season. If you feel the need to make a deal find what you need and use Cano as tradebait....Utley is the best player in this deal and not enough is being offered plus Rios may be a .300, 25 HR, 90 RBI and 20-25 SB player....that is way too much to give up for what amounts to Ichiro and bench players.

I would not do it because Utley is an amazing player...easily Top 10. Alex Rios can get you any kind of stats. Ichiro is starting to decline is stats. Barfield and Rivera shouldnt even be on a fantasy team. Utley is better than Ichiro and Rios is better than Barfield and Rivera combined. Also you would have to drop someone and it would end up being Rivera.

If I were you and I were to pull off this trade, I would make Ibanez a starter along with Ichiro. that way you'd have two prominent bats in your lineup and you wouldn't lose much with Cano at 2nd. Barfield is not used to the AL now that he's in Cleveland, Utley can be dispensible with the addition of Ichiro, and Rios is streaky at best, so this deal would help you. You also might want to consider putting Cuddyer in your lineup as well. If you have a DH he's a good spot there and if you have a 1st baseman slot with no big name, there you go also.

ichiro is getting old and is declining in all catigories
barfeild is an avredge player
rivera is injured
utley is a top 10 pleayer
rios is going to have a fantastic seosen and is a top 75 pleayer with power and speed
