People tend to believe in something until a better explanation comes along. They believe it because the belief serves a purpose in their lives. If something more believable comes along, people will believe that instead. Or half believe it, because half their previous beliefs still have some weight. Or maybe they think they will not be able to apreciate the good until they have savoured the bad. How do you define good anyway? Who says what is good and what is bad? Hang on a minute... what?....Oh the church. Oh, I see, God told the church about what is good and what is bad, so that the church could tell us and save him the bother. Then they realize they don´t really know and would rather not think about it and get on with their lives, besides which the dog needs feeding.

Heaven is here, we are all in heaven already, but it is up to us to understand the truth of it. When we so call die, we will still be here, just in a different form. There is no place else to go but here, and here is heaven. Conversation With God explains that very clearly and simple. It's the best book out there! :)

i have to agree with dlspeed1. though i don't know the book conversations with god, i think it follows that conversations with yourself is the way to find heaven within this earth. right here, right now. we get confused and look for an external way out. when in-fact we are ourselves the gate keepers.

Because most religions believe that to kill oneself would prevent one from going to Heaven. We have to wait and die when the body is ready.

maybe because they really are not sure that such a place exists or that their so called god will really let them in. Actions speak louder than words, and most religious people that I know are more afraid of dying than those people without any religious or spiritual beliefs.

If you died, would you most certainly leave the place you call home, without thinking about it first?
