Hit your kids when they do something bad? (And i don't mean abuse)

Never. I promised my self that I would never lay a hand on my daughter and I haven't.
I know most parents say what angels their kids are, but I swear she really is!

I very rarely hit my kids but if I feel it warrants a slap then yeh they get one.........
I usually ground them ,take away sky TV, no playing games consoles and no watching DVD's for punishment, this can go on for a while having none of these think the longest was 3 months, had to get my point across.......
they probably prefer a quick slap as its over in jig time as the above isnt...........

I never have hit my kids. Not that they have never done anything bad. I found talking to them always worked. I explain to them what could have happened "if" or ask them how they would you feel "if". I also have them take time off to think about what they did and then have them come back to me and talk about it.

I have spanked them before but I dont like to,it doesnt teach them anything but violence.We have had enough of that at the hands of their father .I wont do that to them,hitting is not right

you bet I did and they don't mind a think I tell them now that they are grown. Sometimes it comes to fists with my son and I. He hasn't really tried t hit me back just yet but I am waiting and ready for him when he does go there.

I used to believe in spanking, but anymore, I have learned that it truly doesn't help anything. It just makes your children fear you. ...And why would I want my kids to be afraid of me. I love them too much for that.

I have learned enough about disciplining a child not to have to hit my children. I am consistent with my ways enough for them to know what is allowed and what is not. they know not to mess with me!

Nope, never physically punish my children. I take away their computers, PS2, xbox, nintendo DS, etc. It's more devastating trust me!

they do get a spanking for lying to us or just outright disobey us..thats about the only thing they get spanked for...
Spare the rod, spoil the child!

I spanked them when they were little, sure. They're 19 and 17 now.
