There was mold growing on my cake and I just want to know what that stuff is. Is it a plant or something else?

It's a fungus which is neither a plant or animal.

Mold is from the Fungi kingdom or in other words it is a fungus. It will grow on just about any food that is exposed to air although putting it in the refrigerator will slow down the process. Mold also often grows on cheese but ,as disgusting as it sounds, you can just cut the moldy part off and still eat the cheese (it won't taste any different). as a note, mold has not been called a plant for about half a century
