They have always been jealous of the British Empire and have been trying to increase their influence in the world since they bankrupted Britain during the 2nd WW. It was the Yanks who pushed the UN to demand that Britain leave the countries round the world that had been run by them, and too quickly to enable a proper government to be put in place. therefore the present problems are all down to successive Yankee governments.

If the USA wanted to rule the world, it could, but it doesn't want to.

We get the picture David, you don't like Americans. Every country has bad eggs, the majority of Americans I have met are good people, leave them alone. Alright so George W Bush is a bit of a tosser, but don't tarnish them all with the same brush. Look at us English, we have Tony Blair, but that does not mean every Englishmen is a liar, cheat and dishonest does it?

Just googled Carlyle group as amerikkkan_sux suggested and it seems to be true. The company is a money making war machine. A little surprised to find John Major amongst its ranks.

We're not trying to rule the world, we're trying to civilize it.

Yes, that sounds harsh, but it caught your attention, didn't it?

What did we do in Iraq? As soon as the Iraqis were ready, we helped them create a democratic form of government, designed by Iraqis, and run by Iraqis. Their constitution contains passages that are distasteful to us, such as provisions for Islamic law, but we did not interfere; they wrote it.... period.

What insane world do we live in where we LIBERATE a country from a cruel dictator, quickly and gladly hand the country back to its own people, give Herculean amounts of aid and assistance, but we are denigrated as "occupiers"?

Countries like Iraq should have an Indenpendence Day, called "Thank America Day".

No . We are trying to prevent any one country or group of people from doing that.
