They're mean little critters. Leave him where he is and bury a handful of mothballs wherever you find an opening to his burrow. He eats the mothballs and dies in the ground and you're done with him.

Like the one PP said, moles themselves are actually helpful and will eat grubs. The real "problem", if you will, is they make tracks in the yard. If you are finding your plants dying, bulbs being eaten, etc., chances are you have voles. They are little critters that move in established mole tunnels, and feed on plant roots and bulbs. They are much harder to get rid of. If you find quarter sized holes near the mole trails, that's what you have. Not sure what rids these critters best though. That's a whole other thread :-)

You have to get rid of the grubs---spread lime on you yard that will kill the grubs and the moles will go the neighbors for food. You have to do this every year. There is some stuff called Milky Spore (very costly) but once it is established it will last for 15 years. It is a living bacteria but very safe for all animals except grubs. Put in a lawn seed spreader and apply must be no wind it is a very fine power.

Get real, moles don't hurt anything. their trails can be pushed back into place iwth your foot. They don't eat plants. If you have them it's because there are grubs in your lawn and grubs DO eat plants, so be thankful the moles are there.
