'he's gone missin' or 'it's gone missin' ....

It just irriatates the heck out of me and I don't understand why people say it. How about 'he's gone', or 'it's missing', doesn't that make more sense? It just irks me to hear people say this and on the news....the newscasters actually say it! omg! This is such horrid grammar.

Is it just me or is this an irritating thing to hear?

I agree! And, I could write a book about other points of bad grammar which also irritate me and are used by almost everyone in America, thanks to television. Why is it easier to ask: "where is someone at?" rather than simply "where is he?" And, why do so many people say, "small little"? Isn't that redundant? The sad point is that no one knows any better! At least, you and I do!!

Well, if it's gone and they don't know where, then it's gone .. missing ... not here.

relax, it's just common vernacular, nothing to get worked up about. If you want to get worked up, try to find where Kelly Bundy disappeared to. We miss her around here. She and Drama Queen have such interesting comments about each other.

How come, " He's gone fishin' " sounds ok, but " He's gone missin' " doesn't? Beats me. Guess it's just the way the wording is used, huh?

You just answered your own question. They do it cuz it irritates the heck out of you. It's a conspiracy if you ask me. If you don't like this answer, then answer number two is: Geaorge W. is making them do it. He gets blamed for everything anyway.

or how about fatally shot dead? Or he had come up missing. Well, if he has come up then he is not missing and if he is fatally shot then he is dead. People just have to over emphasize everything.
