Well it is easier for parents to let boys date at 13-14 but If I had a young daughter there is no way in heck I would let her date. I have an almost 16 old son and I am apperhensive about him dating yet you will grow up so enough enjoy being a kid

First of all, it's waaaay different. You're a girl, and He's a boy. You have the amazing ability, to bear children, Boys don't. Plus, 14 is a bit young, i mean sure, going out to movies (in groups) and going to the fair or something, thats totally fine, but not "dating dating" too many bad things are happening in today's world. the national average of girls loosing their virginities now is at the lowest ever, 14! YOUR AGE. that's terrible. Do you know how many girls between the ages of 15-18 are getting pregnant when they have their whole lives are ahead of them, not to mention how many babies are being aborted because of all the sex that's going on with no protection and also, girls are contracting STD's and even HIV.
I mean, i don't mean to come down on you saying that dating automatically means you're going to get pregnant and get an STD, all im saying is that there are reasons that your mom is not letting you date, it's because one thing DOES lead to another... whether it's dating leads to kissing, which leads to sex. OR, it's dating that leads to partying, that leads to drinking, that can involve rape, that can end in pregnancy and the list goes on... but just be thoughtful that you're mom is only looking out for you.
:)

To tell you the truth i think that 14 is to young to date. especially being a girl . I don't blame your mom. There are so many things to worrie about. I think that at 14 you should be into your school. Your mom is just trying to do what is best for you. Its not unfair its just that young ladies like your self is just not safe these days. Your lucky to have a mom like yours that cares. don't be mad at your mom trust me one day you will thank her.

Totally unfair, mom. I am a 28 year old mother and you are setting a poor precedent by granting privileges to your son and not extending them to your daughter at the same age. Thumbs way down!

it depends on the person some teenagers should wait until they have reached a certain level of maturity i think as the mother of a 13 year old daughter that she should wait until she is 16 like i did i have a son i would like him to also wait until he is 16 but i will not force my children they need to learn on their own when it comes to dating i think 14 is borderline start dating

I think she should at least let you date. I think 14 is good for a young girl to start dating. If your brother can why can't you.
