hear loss - I read that it is common for a dr. to find roaches
in people's ears (ewe....)

My daughter had an earache... she had a cold so I thought ear infection, took her to the Dr. and he said she had what he called a "wax boulder" in her ear, had a nurse get it out and it turned out to be a wax coated piece of a q-tip that got stuck in her ear... makes you even think twice before using a q-tip.
I have heard of the bug thing and the nurse said she has removed stranger things from kids ears, (corn, peas, small toys etc)

Thanks for the info since I have not heard of that. That is SO gross (the roach thing)!! :P
