I was banned from a forum by ip but i got around it using a proxy, so they banned my hardware/mac and i got around that, now they getting mad and telling me their going to ban my IP provider ?

So I thought to myself, wouldnt banning my IP provider be banning more than me ? say for example I'm using qwest dsl, they ban qwest as a IP provider, to get rid of me wont they be banning other innocent people who are using qwest as an IP provider and visiting the forum ?

or is my understanding of this incorrect ? To me banning any IP provider as a whole will ban anyone using that IP provider, guilty or innocent ?

can someone help me out, I'd appreciate it.

I was exploiting the forum which gaining access to admin accounts trying to unban my PS3 system. this forum handles bans regarding people who playing online games with the new Sony Playstation 3, and I was banned from the entire game because I was caught glitching the game to gain an unfair advantage over other players.

They had no proof of this however and still banned me which was agaisnt their policy to have no proof and ban a player and it happend to be some 12 year old kid who made the claims which was not justifyable.

So I exploited to forum and I was caught by another admin of the site after he noticed someone was accessing private forums removing banned names from the banlist.

so they terminated my forum account and every sub account linked to my IP but i reg'd again to try and prove my point to them and I was banned again, so I bypass the hardware ban / mac ban and I tried once more to prove them they were wrong in banning my ps3 from online gaming because they had no proof

What will happen is that your provider will throw you out, to avoid having the rest of their customers banned. So if you don't want to have to find a new provider, I'd suggest you stop doing whatever it is you're doing.

Yes your actions will affect other users. And yes the site has the right to ban you, your IP, your mac, and your provider should all those fail, the the provider will probably then ban you from the system since you are probably in violation of Qwests terms of use.

Why dont you just do the right thing and stay out of that forum!

Yes, banning an ISP is banning an entire set of ip addresses that come from that service. It's very very very unlikely only because then they are restricting their customers and no ISP wants to do that and stay open. So you'll probably get the boot. Plus web sites all the time block ISP's,email domains, etc but they don't call them and tell them about it. Just use a circumventor (web proxy)

It would indeed ban EVERYONE using that IP provider, and don't think they can't or won't do it, I've seen a lot of places who won't let anyone with an AOL email address get an account, for instance.

This wasn't your question, I know, but how about just agreeing to follow their online rules of conduct and/or aplogizing for what you did?

You are right. If they ban your ip provider, they are banning everyone who uses that ISP. So, whatever you are doing to get banned, you probably don't want to keep doing it. Your ISP might take legal action.

Banning the IP provider would ban everyone using the internet company you're using! (i.e. if you have verizon, everyone w/ verizon will be blocked)
