You are in charge of the feeding, NOT your dog. Do not give him ferret food. He needs food that's specially formulated for dogs. If you have any questions about a healthy diet for him, please contact your veterinarian.

Probably not. I would think the protein levels are too high for a dog.

I have a Chihuahua that I had trouble getting to eat and I found Royal Canin Sensible Choice Natural Blend. He eats this food and only this food. He will not eat any other types of dog food. He would eat about once every 3 days (when he was too hungry to fight it). I struggled for 6 months to find a food he'd eat on a regular basis (everyday that is). I had to try a new food and give him a couple weeks of this behavior before I could know if he'd eat it. Eventually I found Natural Blend after 2 weeks I was ready to return it to the store when he started eating it and has been eating it for about 5 years now. As long as your chihuahua is healthy (not having problems with low blood sugar), I'd go about finding something for him to eat like this. Make sure the pet store you are buying from has a return policy though to help with the costs of trying so many different foods.

Just give your dog decent dog food, nothing cheap (like EUKANUBA or stores own brands) and they will have to eat it eventually, foods like naturediet are good as they are more interesting for dogs as they arent as processed and much more natural.
Also dont give them ferret food, it can make them ill!

Ferret food is formulated for ferrets, not dogs, so it's not going to give him what he needs in his diet.

its not very healthy couse it doesnt have the nutrians your dog needs, BUT you could mix some in to his food for taste factor. it wont hurt him. i have a dog that used to go nuts for cat food. so i mixed it in. wont hurt
