What are the people called who research for a criminal trial
find evidence for the Defense Attorney or Prosector but they never actually go on in person to the trial. They basically do all the work but hand in off to the main guy.

They are usually called law clerks

(Sometimes it's just a smart Legal Sedretary or Paralegal. Actually some of them are as smart as lawyers.)
You may be talking about law clerks.
