I have a 1993 Chevy S-10 extended crew cab. Everything about the car is fine, but one thing: the acceleration! When I step on the gas pedal, the car moves at such a slow rate. The engine roars fine, but the car moves like a snail. It's as if I'm stepping on air when I hit the pedal, which ultimately forces me to step almost all the way down everytime there's a green light. The car seems to struggle just to accelerate. This is very embarrassing when I'm on the road, especially when the trucks have to cut me. The last time I looked, I believe the "Check Engine" light was on, but not too sure. Anyhow, I know it's hard to diagnose a vehicle unless you drive it, but does anyone have a clue as to what is going on with my car and how to fix it?

If the engine is running fine...check the transmission....maybe the rear differential, too....Is your E-brake on?

1. Change your Fuel Filter

2. When was the last time it was tune up? If you're having trouble answer the question, then give it a tune up.

3. The issue with the "Check Engine" light. The computer is picking up a fault signal from one of the sensors. TPS, MAP, CPS< or Oxygen Sensor.

Good Luck

This truck needs a tune up at the very least from the sounds of it. but make sure that the brakes aren't dragging and the clutch isn't slipping either (provided you have one). It's also possible that the fuel filter is plugged an or the throttle body is worn out.

The fuel filters clog up on GM vehicles you need to change them every 25 k . I would start there and see if that helps any, also check your air filter.

sounds like the rtransmittion is slipping. if there is a bad burnt odor around the engine compartment, I would say the tranny has gone bad, so it needs rebuilding or replacing. at this point, a tranny fluid change would only be a waste of money

Check your transmission fluid, it sounds like the trans is slipping. If the fluid is full and it is still slipping, then you need the trans serviced.
