St. Patrick started alot of churches in Ireland so the Irish made up a day just for him and the color of the shamrock is green so its hand in hand on St. Patricks day

I'm Jewish, not Irish, but since they're both "ish", I think I'm qualified to answer this question. Green represents the "Emerald Isle" or Ireland. It's kind of like the red, white and blue for Americans. Hope this helps.
