Becoming the next big goalie requires that you continue to improve your game and raise it up a level when it counts and that's playoff time. It also helps to have a real good defense in front of you to take the pressure of having to make every save. Part of his improvement lies in that he doesn't have to stop every damn shot this year in order for his team to win. That wasn't the case last year and that is something that can wear you down in a hurry. The Pens offense has taken a lot of pressure off of the defense and this in turn allows the defense a chance to improve its play knowing that a single mistake won't kill them. Great goaltending starts with excellent defense and capable offenses. You'll know exactly how far Fleury has come in the maturation process when the playoffs start. How he handles giving up a soft goal or a mistake out in front by one of his players will really tell you whether or not you have a bright shining star on the horizon. I think he needs to work on some things in the off season, but he'll eventually make his way into the elite goalie status.

He has the potential for sure. He is really up and down though some nights he will be stellar all around, some nights he will make some ridiculous saves then let in a soft goal or two, and other nights he is just off. His win total doesn't really show how he has played because the Pens have the ability to
overcome games where he lets in 3, 4, or 5 goals, they have several 5-4 and 6-5 games this year.

He does have great potential, I think he mostly has to work on the mental part of his game, but you have to remember the guy is only 22.

Austin is right to, he needs some help around him. I know it was T-Bo in goal against the Rangers the other night and Rob Scuderi scoring the wining goal for Rangers with less than a minute left isn't good.

He has the tools to become so, but isn't there yet. Too inconsistent, terrible rebound control, he still overplays shots often and his stickhandling is an adventure. His phenomenal quickness and reflexes overcome these things a lot of nights.

At the end of our points streak(the Pens) he was downright horrible the last 4 or 5 games. The team managed to win despite him not because of him. Honestly right now the "next big goalie" is Kari Lehtonen in Atlanta.

I think he is amazing. He does make some simple mistakes on the ice, but that'll change with more NHL experience. He's improved so much just from last season to this season and I'm looking forward to seeing what he'll do in the playoffs. Honestly, I don't think he gets the credit he deserves as a new force in the NHL...but I sing his praises!!! I love watching him and I even have a Fleury name and number t shirt...

Let's Go Pens!!!

there is not any manageable individual obtainable available that that's worth trading him for on the prompt. Plus, who may have a favor for him on the prompt? each of the goalies worth some thing were picked up in the first few weeks of trading. So why grant him up now? particularly considering that he continues to be were given this season on his settlement. If it were the point to commerce him, it might want to be a lot more beneficial accessible to eliminate him next offseason so as that we do no longer ought to do any complicated settlement negotiations for the commerce. in any case, for now, i love Fleury. he's basically not what Tom Barasso replaced into to the Pens followers, yet he's sturdy for now. possibly if he helps us get a pair earrings, he will hit that mark.... on the prompt, he's only a sturdy youthful goalie.

I have always liked him but he is actually progressing a little slower than I thought he would. He has really been inconsistant. I would go as far as to say that the way Thibeault has been playing, paired with his experience, I know this may sound crazy but I would consider starting Thibeault in the play-offs.
Other than that, he SHOULD be the next big thing since they used a #1 pick on him.

He's blossomed into a good number one goalie, but the next big thing? No, he's definitely good, but not elite! He will not be compared to the likes of Brodeur. But we'll just have to see over the years. He's playing pretty good this season but partly due the fact he has a lot of talent in front of him. Staal, Malkin, Crosby, etc etc.

i dont think he is that good honestly. i had him in the beginning of the year for fantasy but then i dropped him because hed always let in like 3 or 4 goals. now he is playing better but i think thats what is hurting the pens. i could be wrong but thats just my opinion.

He's not that good but he makes amazing saves sometimes. I think that Brodeur is still the big one and maybe DiPietro will be the next big one.
And also he has those yellow pads which draws attention to the eyes so it is a little easier for him since the players shoot there a lot.
