This is a question in my daughters spelling homework. It is some term for words that answer how or when.

Adverbs answer both questions. in fact, it even answers "where".

Adverb of Manner (stronger, faster, etc) = answers "how"
Adverb of Time (today, yesterday) = answers "when"
Adver of Place (above, below) = answers "where"

A word that answers to how is an adverb and a word that answers to when is a time expression.
