I don't understand. Why would someone ever want to kill their baby? If a girl was raped or there was a problem with the pregnancy I would understand. But the way it is being used now is like a form of birth control! If you couldn't support the baby you should give it up for adoption. Why in the world would anyone want to murder their baby? When you are pregnant, your hormones are seriously making you emotional. Is that any state in which you should decide something like that? Abortion is murder by defenition: the wrongful or malicious taking of a life. If you had unprotected sex, that is your fault unless you were raped. I just don't understand why anyone would want that for their child who could grow up to be a doctor or a lawyer or cure cancer. Why?

Most people think abortion is wrong, but that's not the point. Should this procedure remain legal? Yes it should. If we made it illegal many women will die trying to get one. I don't want to see that happen. If it's illegal most women will have a hard time giving their baby up for adoption. Many will choose to keep the baby and increase their chance of living in poverty. I don't want to see that happen either. Instead of arguing about abortion let's find better methods of birth control. Let's focus on preventing these unwanted pregnancies in the first place. Less unwanted pregnancies mean less abortions.

I don't know where to begin. I guess women are still playing a game with their bodies. They still think that you have " Do Overs" in the game of life. You have the right to make all sorts of choices in life. You can step in front of a bus and kill yourself. You can take too many drugs and die. You can shoot yourself and many other harmful things that will do you great or mortal damage. A little crude, but you can have sex with any number of men without protection and get AIDS. Put your legs in the air and have a great time. OOOOOPS! You are pregnant!! "DO Overs" I want an abortion!! All those other situations killed or damaged only you for what you did. Now you want to punish an innocent thing growing in you for what you did. Notice I didn't call it a fetus or a baby. You didn't, either! All the answers above talked about choice, rights, illegal abortions, unwanted children with no self respect, losers for life at orphanages, sex slaves, and on and on.
I believe a woman should have a choice. I believe she should be allowed to make up her own mind. I believe she should be able to think for herself. I, also, believe that she has a huge responsibility for her actions as a woman that no man will ever have. This burden is very heavy and cannot be taken lightly. That burden is the decision to have a child or not. She has to make all the decisions on whether the man has an opportunity to impregnate her. Yes, her decision! Who can argue with this? They know from the minute they meet the man whether they will do it or not! Unless the man screws up the evening, he will get lucky! In this day and time, AIDS is a huge problem. Forget abstinence, it doesn't work for most. Birth control pills or patches don't stop it, either. Is it a big secret that condoms are not perfect, but are the best method if you are going to have sex anyway? It is not a big deal if you have them with you? Don't rely on the guy to have them. Which is better, worrying what he will think of you afterwards because you had condoms, or AIDS or PREGNANCY?!
This is no great piece of literature against abortion, but, maybe, it will save the life of a woman from AIDS or pregnancy or her infant from disease or premature death.
If you can't take the responsibility for your actions, pray that God will help you deal with the guilt later. Your mind and body won't let you forget what you have done, either.
I do know when to end it.

I beleive abortion is wrong. it is the taking of an innocent person that had no fault or cause of the pregnancy.

But the abortion has many root causes,
1. a major breakdown of the family principles in America.

2 . Corporate America which has pushed for more and more out sourcing of jobs that should have been kept here at home working and paying our own people thereby increasing our standards of living.

3. Fewer jobs in American companies to promote bigger profits for the executives, and higher stress and productivity levels for the employees.

4. The poor working to support the rich. More tax breaks and higher wages for the rich. Lower wages and benefits for the poor.

5. American tax dollars spent to give foreigners a better life then our own people that are paying in these tax dollars. I'm not saying we should give our people a free ride. But we could take better care of our needy and disabled citizens. We often pay our citizens on welfare just barely enough to live at or just below the poverty level. Also the current " War On Terror " is being funded partially by tax dollars that need to be spent on taking better care of our ill, poor, and needy citizens.

Many will still have un protected sex, and then feel the only choice is abortion. This is a similar step of letting down an innocent child. As society has in many ways let down our own.

6. Sex ed classes that are protested by parents, and children that are pulled from the classes that many could learn from.

7. What is the comparison of american abortions compared to the rest of the world ???
8 . A lifestyle of independce, and lack of knowledge these days of how to be a good family ???

9. The cases of rape, and life threatning abortions. Yes I can see how a rape victim may not want a child of this circumstance. Maybe an adoption will work. Or in the case of life and death birth. These I think are few in the total of actual abortions.

10. Many adoptions lead to bad life styles and abuse of the children, and delinquents. But these could both be better if the proper people in charge of checking out adoptive parents, and society took better care of our own.

11. Abortions are not just in a doctors office, abortions also occur when moms deliver a baby then throw it away in a garbage dumpster. Both are the taking of a babies life .

Death is a part of our world, that is a given. However I beleive life is better. If all the mistakes above could be fixed and abortion was ONLY in the case of rape, or a justified life and death pregnancy. The total number of abortions would plummit from millions to a few thousand.

Our society is seriously screwed up in many ways, some of this we can fix day by day and some we cannot.

If your gonna make the choice to have sex, and not be protected. then you better be ready to pay the price and take care of that child. NOT MAKE THE CHILD PAY BY DEATH.
Or abstain. The exception being rape or incest.

Again I don't see abortion ending or our country fixing all its wrongs. But with responsible behavior the abortion rate could be lowered.

Killing the enemy in a war situation is also murder. You are the one who is saying that killing a fetus is wrongful and malicious. I, for one, don't believe it is wrongful or malicious. The argument about the fetus possibly growing up to be the one who finds a cure for cancer would also be an argument against masturbation. I remember a young lady who became pregnant by a boyfriend whom she didn't want to marry. If she had the child, she would have been saddled with this guy the rest of her life. For me, that is a price too high to have to pay. It's true that she should have seen to it that she didn't become pregnant, but the fact is that people make mistakes. In the old days, before abortions, if the couple couldn't support the kid, they would leave it out in the woods. Many babies died this way. Maybe one of them would have developed the theory of relativity a couple of hundred years before Einstein came along. As I see it, that's life. The ideal often isn't achievable for one reason or another.

The sacrifice to convenience is too tempting in today's world.

You should understand the nature of the pro-abortion movement. They break down into 2 groups: The evil, and the misinformed, the ignorant.

The evil ones make up an extremely miniscule fraction of the whole movement. These are the people who know precisely what is happening. These people know it's murder; they know it's infanticide. Their slogan is, "Every child a wanted child, and every unwanted child dead."

As I said, there are very few of these people, but they are immensely powerful.

The majority of the movement is composed of those who simply do not understand. They get caught up in the arguments. In their zeal to preserve "a woman's right to choose" they simultaneously ignore (perhaps unknowingly) a human's right to live. This is precisely the issue. They haven't yet the ability to prioritize rights. Nothing comes before the basic right to live. No government, organization, or person can infringe upon it in any permanent capacity.

In this group there are also those who deny that abortion is murder. These are the people with whom I have neither sympathy nor patience. Any child, any adult with a modicum of conscience can see the truth behind abortion. The horrifying thing is not that they CAN'T see the truth, but that they DENY it so as to circumvent guilt. They see what is happening, and rather than admit wrongdoing, they rationalize it. "It's just tissue. It's a woman's right. The thing wasn't human." Spare me.

Remain hopeful tho. Abortion, like slavery, is a gross attempt to undermine the basic rights of an entire class of humanity; it is based on the premise that only some humans have human rights, and that is a lie. Lies cannot stand. They eventually must collapse under the weight of their own absurdity. This is precisely what happened to slavery. Abortion will be no different. It WILL fall.

The only remaining question is how long will it take, and therefore how many lives will it claim in the meantime.

I don't understand either - it's a rotten thing to do. I also don't understand why you insist on calling an embryo or a fetus - a baby. I don't understand why it concerns you. The liberty guaranteed by our Constitution says that you cannot force another woman to carry a collection of cells inside of her for nine months and then force her to go through labor. It is just a matter of liberty and as much as we hate it, it's better than the alternative. The only alternative is to make abortions illegal. Then women would have unsafe abortions or travel to other countries to have them. The Supreme Court has decided this issue. So, like it or not it's the law. Personally, I think that marijuana should be legal, but it's illegal so I don't smoke it. That's life.

You are completely right. It's not right for a woman to take the life of her child.
I think the reason many young mothers have abortions is that they feel everyone pressuring them to have an abortion.

That is sad, because many times, if the girl's parents would have been more involved in her life, they could have helped her avoid hanging out with the wrong types of guys, and having sex before she was ready to support a child.

It is a woman's right to decide if she wants to or is capable of nurturing another human being. Until it is born it is basically a parasite living off a host organism not a "baby" it can't survive without the host. Unfortunately men cannot host this organism so they feel they have the right to demand women do. If a woman considers abortion it is because she can not deal with the life commitment bearing this burden will bring. Adoption is not a "simple solution" many adopted children are abused, raped, killed and abandoned by their adoptive parents some are even sold into sex slavery - even in America. What woman wants to wonder if that happened to the human she carried and gave birth to? If she is financially unable to care for the child, emotionally incapable or just too darn selfish she should abort. There is no guarantee that any child will grow to a "success" and children raised as unwanted rarely become more than a burden to society. Sadly you will disagree as will many with my opinion. It is just that one opinion -Do you know you were a wanted child? Shouldn't every person born be wanted? The child will know it was hated in the womb - I have adopted friends with serious issues because they know they were forced births and then "dumped" into an adoption by a well meaning but uncaring "family". They are so messed up and of little value in there mediocre life. The people I know who are successful were wanted children, loved and raised by people who truly wanted them - from the womb.

We may not understand why woman choose to have an abortion, but who am I to tell another woman what to do with her own body. I myself cannot have any children and always wanted some and I may not agree with abortion but I do know I have no say in what other woman want to do with their bodies. We have no idea of what the woman that wants an abortion is going through physically or mentally. Mind you if the government makes abortion illegal again our women will do it themselves one way or another. Many women will die and for what.....because SOME PEOPLE JUST THOUGHT IT WAS THEIR BUSINESS TO TELL OTHER WOMEN WHAT TO DO WITH THEIR OWN BODIES!! Just for a second imagine someone telling you not asking you but TELLING YOU THAT YOU WILL DO WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO DO WITH YOUR BODY AND YOU JUST SHUT UP AND DO IT!! NO MATTER HOW BAD IT WILL HURT YOU MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY.....are you thinking...you there yet? Yeah it don't feel real good does it. If our government takes that right away from us IT WILL BE A SAD DAY IN HISTORY AND FOR US WOMEN WILL MEAN WE HAVE TAKEN 10 STEPS BACKWARD!!! THIS IS A WOMAN'S RIGHT AND JUST BEING THAT WE SHOULD FIGHT TO KEEP IT!! ONCE WE LET THEM TAKE ONE RIGHT AWAY FROM US THERE WILL BE MANY TO FOLLOW. NOW THAT IS A SCARY THOUGHT.
