All right, here is the story. First Cingular and AT&T were two seperate companies. Then Cingular bought out AT&T. Thus forcing every AT&T cell phone user to switch to the Cingular service. Now AT&T has bought Cingular. Now dont panic. There is not going to be any change in anything. Everything is the same, all the technology at least. The only thing that has changed is the name. So, no big deal.

cingular bought out at&t but they decided to keep the at&t name instead of cingular because at&t is a well known world wide company....and cingular hasn't been around as long as at&t has been and more people recognize the at&t name!

SBC and BellSouth jointly-owned Cingular Wireless.
Now, SBC bought BellSouth (including the rights to Cingular), and decided to change the name (for all of their services, including cellular) to at&t.
