how to burn a file on a dvd?

i downloaded a movie from utorrent and i want to put the movie on a dvd. i dont have nero or anything like that. (i have vista if that helps)

You will need a dvd burner & dvd burner software. + you will need to make sure you are not infringing on any copyrights by burning the movie. Some movies are encrypted & that prevents their being copied onto a disk.

If you don't have any DVD burning software (e.g. Nero) then you're screwed from the start, you can hardly expect to burn discs without burning software.

That aside, to make proper DVDs out of downloaded AVI files you need to convert them because a DVD player doesn't understand AVI files. For that you'd need something like WinAVI, then Nero to burn the converted files.

If you want to burn CDs or DVDs, you need a burner. This would compare to paying for "extras" for your car - like a radio, CD player, etc.

The burner will come with its own software with which you will burn CDs or DVDs. It should come with a User's Guide either printed or on the installation disk.
