No, I think they nail it

I'm pretty sure they give them monosyllabic, short names so they're easier to remember and talk about. I don't like names like 'Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip' and even 'Brothers and Sisters'. They take too long to type.

But beyond those few, there aren't many monosyllabic show names. Most have at least two syllables. 'Crossing Jordan', 'Criminal Minds', 'ER', 'Firefly', 'Stargate (SG-1 and Atlantis)', 'Gilmore Girls', 'Grey's Anatomy', 'Ugly Betty', 'The West Wing', 'Law and Order', 'Battlestar Galactica', 'Desperate Housewives', 'CSI', 'Dead Like Me', etc. And I could keep going, as these are only current (or at least fairly recently cancelled) shows. And some of these are shortened to one syllable to make our speech more succinct (and to make them easier to type - I've started to shorten everything to two or three letters because it gets to be a hassle to type it all the time).

And the length of the name has nothing to do with the quality of the TV show. I don't like 'Battlestar Galactica' or 'Desperate Housewives' but I love 'The West Wing'. I think 'Friends' was a dumb show, but I love 'M*A*S*H' and 'House'. The name isn't what counts, it's the show's content. Though I would like to say that 'House' is also known as 'House M.D.', and when the title shows during the opening credits, it gives that as the title.

No, I'm more sick of the ones with really long names like "Grease, You're the One That I Want" or "The New Adventures of Old Christine". Ugh.

I don't mind them if the show is good. House is GREAT!

I also love Monk, Psych, The Closer, and Blood Ties.

I don't like any of them besides House.

I don't think monosyllabillic names has anything to do with the general quality of the show.
