1969.

This year in my opinion was the greatest year when most major bands were at their creative climax. Also, not to be morbid but the year that followed we were to see the deaths of 2 rock giants,Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix. Also,Jim Morrison died in 1971 which really set the tone for things to swing down.

I do not know about year but I would say the era between about 68-75 produced by far the best stuff. Almost all good rock is in that period.

1967 because The Beatles came out with their album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Sgt. Pepper redefined music and added a new twist to the generic rock that bands were belting out those days. It changed the style of music forever and rocked the music industry.

The question asked for R&R,anything after 1963 was not R&R. My favourite year would possibly be 1958,but the era 1953-63 was brilliant

1943.

Janis Joplin born.
Jim Morrison born.
Jimi Hendrix born. (techincally late 42, but whatever.)
Keith Richards born.
Roger Waters born.
Jim Morrison born.
Mick Jagger born.

If that isn't some good rock production, I don't know what is.

Not a year, but years -1970 to 1979. Because rock was hard but still had melody and lyrics. Also - because that's when I was listening.
