How do you feel about the blown up stardust? What will go in its place. What was it like inside. Did they destroy all the chairs and everything in it or what. What is your favorite casino on the strip? Mine is MGM Grand and Monte Carlo.

Man I hated to see that place go, they had a bank of triple play Joker Poker machines. I used to make a killing on those machines.

"What was it like inside"
The sports book was pretty nice for an older casino.

They would often have showgirls in full plumage between the casino and check in.

I never stayed in the motor inn part but the tower rooms were pretty nice. Boyd gaming is one of the better hotels for comps so I spent a lot of free nights there.

There was a little area of shops as you came in the South doors, they always had some interesting LV souvenirs and the like.

I didn't care for their buffet very much.

They ususlly had some pretty good headliners for entertainment.

"Did they destroy" - No, everything is removed before demolition.

"Favorite casino on the strip" >that's not fair to limit it to the strip so I'm going to cheat and give you all my favorites.

On the Strip
#1-Caesars Palace >My absolute favorite, I just wish Harrah's had never taken over the place and ruined the gaming

#2-The Venetian

#3-Luxor

Downtown
#1-Main Street Station
#2-Golden Nugget

Boulder Highway
Sam's Town

West of the strip
Orleans

South LV
Silverton

Though I have to agree, MGM is awesome>I probably have more great(funny) stories from that hotel than any other.

I once said of the Monte Carlo that the state of Nevada could use it as the Capital building, it's so regal. The MC pool is great, love that lazy river.

I think it's kind of sad when the old casino's are taken down for new ones to be built. The old hotels have so much old charm and history. At least DT still has some of the old Vegas feel to it. But the only thing constant in Vegas is change so I guess it a good thing. But I'm sure Bugsy Seigel is dolling in his grave.
I do love the Bellagio though!!!!!

I found a great website below that shows all sorts of stuff about the Stardust. The REALLY old Stardust and the one thar recently came down.

I think it is sad as it is a landmark. I am not sure what is actually left in there as this past fall they had an auction to liquadate everything in the hotel. I am not definite, but I think that they are putting up another massive resort in its place. I was at the Stardust a few months prior to its closing and I can say that it was getting a bit gross in its age. It was quite moldy and falling apart in its structure but it still sucks to see it go :(

I would say that my favorite casino is either the Bellagio or the Wynn. I have been in most hotels there and think that they are all great in their own right though. I stayed in the Monte Carlo and that was a nice hotel too.

I was in Vegas staying at the MGM Grand when they blew up the Stardust(huge cloud of smoke). Very sad, seems like every time I go to Vegas something old is gone and new stuff is popping up everywhere. I've been going to Vegas off and on for 10 years now for work and it has changed drastically in that time. Unfortunately the stardust won't be the last. I'm just glad that Freemont Street is fairly safe from demo thanks to the overhead light show.

It is sad because Stardust was a part of Vegas history. It was there for 48 years. That portion of Vegas has been converted into condo units.

My favorite casinos are:
Bellagio and Wynn (both Steve Wynn had influence on) so beautiful on the inside.
Venetian again beautiful

My favorite to gamble is:
Harrahs
Paris
Luxor

Won big at all 3

i hate to see the old casino's go, but understand the way things are. They are putting something in which will be huge and bring in many people and their $$$ But personally, i like the old style vegas better than the new vegas. It used to be come gamble and everything else would be on the town, now they get you for every penny they can.. but oh well, i guess times change. As far as staying in a casino here, my favorite is the venitian... but i love egyptian stuff, so the luxor is my favorite casino to go inside.. but being a local here in town, i stick with the station casinos!

I was in Vegas the first week of October. I was glad I at least got to see the Stardust and I quickly walked through there just so I could say I did......I thought it was aged and dark in there.
I have a feeling my Tropicana is next. I actually like to stay there....am going in a couple of weeks. I get awesome room deals in the mail. This time, 135 bucks plus tax for 5 nights because we get 2 nights for free. You can't beat that!!!!! But my favorite place to eat and hang out is NYNY.
