I travel to and from the states as my family is from Manila. I think you'll benefit very much from the blog I read, it's listed on the sources.

I'd also suggest you try to book a flight from Canada to Las Vegas and then proceed to Manila it's cheaper to fly to Las Vegas than to SanFran or Los Angeles. Just a tip....

For a shorter route, consider taking Northwest Airlines from StPaul, Minn. to Tokyo Narita to Manila.

My suggestion for you is that if you want to do it online, checkout the blog, if you want to do it by phone or in person, look in your local yellow pages for consolidators. These travel agents do what Hotwire does, they buy empty seats on planes for dirt cheap and resell them for profit...many times they get them for half price or less and then resell them for a 20% profit... Imagine 20% of $1500. $300 bucks profit for a ticket to manila... Well, if you visit the blog it will teach you how to cut of the middleman (consolidator) and get the best deal.

The second blog I'm sharing with you has a searchbox that allows you to simultaneously search 100+ sites for the best fares, even if it's titled for Dubai

Naku Ineng, July to August is high season, the fares are expensive during this time.

Some sites to check, prices effective at time of posting:

http://flightnetwork.com
telephones: 905-820-4321 or 1-800-671-5032
Japan Airlines cdn $ 1,455.00 excluding taxes.

http://travelocity.ca
Northwest Airlines cdn $ 1,760.00 taxes and fees included.

http://flightcentre.ca
telephone 1-877-967-5302
Air Canada cdn $ 1,700.00 + 230.80 taxes = $ 1,930.80.

http://orbitz.com
Northwest Airlines us $1,419.00 + taxes = $ 1,505.00.

Please check out the local travel agencies that specialize in Asia (internet, yellow pages). Also ask any recommendations from colleagues who had flown recently to the Philippines. Please compare prices and feel free to ask for a lower rate if you contact the travel agency.

Whatever airline you choose to travel with, best to get a direct flight to Toronto, no offense meant. Reason being, the connecting flight in Vancouver is almost at the opposite side (not to mention different level) of the airport. If the airplane from the Philippines/Hong Kong arrived late, the connecting flight may have left. And the travel time will just become even longer.

From what I've researched Emirates was the cheapest to Europe from the Philippines, so probably it is the cheapest from Canada to the Philippines. Unfortunately I was not able to find a direct flight from Toronto to Manila.

But if you buy today for July 2 or farther the cost would be about USD1000 from JFK Airport New York.

You have to find another Airline that will bring you to NY though.

Whenever I go to the Philippines, I travel using Cathay Pacific which stop-overs in either Vancouver then Hong Kong or stop-overs in the Achorage then HK. I'm not too sure how much it costs though during july to August.. I just know it's much cheaper than other airlines. Hope this helps!! o:-)

The cheapest way ? Hmmm.... check with your travel agent. I always go to www.filipino.ca and click on brown pages for all the travel agencies around the GTA. Apparently, it is cheaper to buy ticket from these agents because they specialize in Asian Travel.
