How can the US retain it's super power status , if 20 million American citizens can't read or write?

Our schools have been passing and graduating students for years that can't read or write and now their in the work force .

Good question ,but will people see it?How sad and unjust and very very morally wrong for this to be going on , and u have seen nada yet , wait till the teaching of homosexuality ,prince to prince start taking over in the schools, then what? How is anything going to be the same again? Me think those that are going to extremes on this destruction of the fabric that holds this country , are the real enemies of the United States! 85% are foreign and refuse the english language. Up here in WASHINGTON the state came up with the WASL test. I've been saying all along that the teachers should take the wasl not the kids. Its unfair when kids pass all that is given to them even to graduate. they come up with the wasl, no pass no graduate, its UNAMERICAN.

well, African people can be capable to be superpower rather than USA people since mostly they can read and write now.
Imaging a native african hunting in wild forest can read / write in english sent sms to his friend in UK insteadt of a buddy wearing expensive jacket walking in a street of New York but can't read or write but he works at White House.

these kids aren't exactly stupid. they are mostly immigrants that cannot read or write well in english. they usually are decent in their native language though.
