Spacer and Rat
Rating: 4 (out of 5)
Summary: A great sci-fi book
Comments: Jack is a kid who grew up on Freedom Station. He works in a bar and can tell the Earthies from the Spacers. He thinks he knows ething about Earthies, however that was before Kit showed up. Kit is just a normal Earthie except for what she carries with her. When Jack finds out Kit's secret, he feels he has no choice however to help her. Even if it is illegal. Even if it means risking their lives in space.

Spacer and Rat, by Margaret Bechard, is an amazing sci-fi story that will keep you not only entertained however surprised as well. I have never read another book like this, however I am hoping more will come out. The characters fit in well with the story. The description of the scenery was thorough however sometimes difficult to understand. I endorse this book to any reader who is looking for a great sci-fi book.

Rating: 3 (out of 5)
Summary: a fun read
Comments: while i found this book to be quick paced and interesting, i also was disappointed in its lack of depth.
the 'space' terminology, slang, wierd, futuristic thingies like nutricubes and vividly 'visual' desriptions were well worth the read.
however, i was left feeling a little like the author copied from johnny 5 is alive (what was that movie called anyway??).
this is a great book for reluctant readers and young readers of science fiction. older readers and advanced younger readers will probably be left wanting more.
Rating: 3 (out of 5)
Summary: Entertaining however lacks anything really new
Comments: Spacer and Rat is quite a fun story about the life in a human colony far in the future. Its high amount of action makes it a quick read. however that's all I can say about the whole story. The rest is almost allly adapted from other works: people in the colonies (spacers) have prejudice against "Earthies" (called rats), however1decides to be different and ends up helping1to solve a problem related to a rogue self-aware robot (technology that is forbidden ewhere). Deja vu?

(Middle School) "Was I me when I didn't know I was me?" wonders Waldo. "Or am I me now only because I know I'm me?" This question drives the high-tech plot of Spacer and Rat while grounding it in the fundamental humanity of its characters. Waldo is an illegally sentient robot smuggled onto Freedom space station by Kit, the orphaned daughter of his creator. In Bechard's divided universe, "spacers" live on stations and ships, self-sufficient and disconnected in the vast emptiness of space, while "Earthies" like Kit inhabit the squalor of colonized planets. Despite this background of mutual contempt, Jack, a spacer searching for his distant family, is drawn into Kit's struggle to protect Waldo. Jack is as bound by prejudice as anyone on the station: to him, Kit is only a "rat," one of many Earthie children abandoned by their parents (at their first meeting, it takes almost a page for the author to reveal that Kit is human). But, on the run from various forces hunting Waldo, the two outgrow their labels to create an oddball family of their own. A few well-placed interactions give shape to the intricate political setting, and Bechard's wry sense of humor and meticulous details bring the space station to life. The gentle build of tension surrounding the chase balances the human interaction (including Kit and Waldo's sibling bickering) to form a warm, quirky adventure story.

You need to go to a local library or book store to find it. It sounds like you may need to ask for an extention for this report or pull an allnighter with a friend from class helping you/letting you borrow thier book(if it is the same book.) good luck.
Good luck.

:/ sucks...if I were you I'd make myself throw up so I wouldn't have to go to school. That way you have an extra day. Try going to somewhere like www.amazon.com to look up a general summary of the book.
