I don't remember that I took them to school to shock the teachers or the principal, but I did because we thought it was "cool". It didn't lead me to smoke when I got older either, but my sister who couldn't have sugar, ended up being the smoker.

For some reason, a lot of people believe candy cigarettes were "totally outlawed" in the United States sometime in the past, when in actuality, the major players have remained one step ahead of governmental regulation via sluggish self-policing and a strong commitment to what ESPN would call "Extreme Hiding."

You can still buy them - either at stores, or online and most of the places online have a great selection of nostalgic candy's that are hard to find anymore

They had to change the name to candy sticks but it's the same great candy with the same great taste!

I rember when we use to buy them, but we were not allowed to take them to school. would have been a cool trick though. We were poor so if we got into trouble we didn' t get anything else so we wouldn't have taken the chance of going to the princaples office.

Yes, they were completely acceptable at the time, kind of scarry thinking about the message it gave us as children. The adults thought it was cool to give them to us too.

I guess parents weren't as informed about the dangers then or I am sure they would not have allowed it.

i brought them to school sometimes but never got caught. would usually just stand around pretending to smoke them, never got in trouble no one thought it was serious. too many kids smoke for real nowadays, too bad they dont pretend smoke candy cigarettes instead of the real things.

Yes, I bought them while in grade school but never took them to school. I bought them & imitated my parents. I thought that was so cool back then to do that.

I ate them before I got to school. Didn't want any encounter with the administration.
